WHEN Katie Baldry was a teenager battling a life limiting medical condition, some teachers said her she would never achieve very much.
One member of staff at Darton High School even told her to resign herself to a life living on benefits.
But Katie, who was born with a rare and and life threatening condition, vowed to carry on with her studies and maintain her ambitions.
Five years ago she was given a liver transplant.
She passed her GCSEs, was named Barnsley's College's student of the year for her grit and determination as she studied for a diploma in early years care and has just graduated from Edge Hill University.
In a few weeks she starts her first job, as a reception teacher at a school in Cantley near Doncaster.
