HUNDREDS of residents have gone without internet services for a week since a crash took out two connectivity boxes.
The incident, which took place last Friday, severely damaged the roadside boxes operated by BT Openreach near Sheffield Road’s junction with Alverley Way in Birdwell
Coun Sherry Holling, who represents the Rockingham ward, has called on BT Openreach to return internet services to the area.
“These boxes service both voice and data connections to the village and the damage has led to a loss of internet access to hundreds of homes in the area,” Coun Holling said.
“I urge BT Openreach to get this fixed as soon as possible.
“I know they are working hard to repair the system but the loss of access is having a profound impact on both businesses and domestic users in our community.”
