A FATHER-daughter filmmaking duo are celebrating once again this week after having their film ‘Regeneration’ screened at a local school.

Dean and Rebecca Sills, from Bolton-upon-Dearne, created their film to tell the story of how the mining industry came to an end - and subsequently how life has changed in the Dearne.

It is currently screening at the National Coal Mining Museum until January.

Rebecca’s aim has been to get the film shown in schools in a bid to help the younger generation understand about the industry.

And that dream is now a reality after she met with community development Darryl Hand and Coun Deborah Pearson alongside her dad to discuss the possibility.

It was shown to pupils in year four and five at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Goldthorpe last Thursday.

Rebecca said: “I am extremely grateful to Darryl and Deborah for making this happen.

” It was a proud moment seeing Regeneration screen at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School.

“Pretty special.”

Dean added: “The children’s reactions towards the film was amazing, so many brilliant questions from them.

“It was a special moment.

“We can’t thank the school enough along with Darryl and Deborah for making this happen.”
