STAFF and students at Barnsley College came together last week to support Wear It Red Day as part of the national Show Racism The Red Card campaign.
The event featured a visit from a number of Barnsley FC’s under-21 players who spoke with students about the cause.
It was organised by the college’s enterprise team to demonstrate solidarity against racism.
A spokesperson for the college said: “Throughout the day, students had the chance to participate in the fastest football dribble challenge, which brought some friendly competition and highlighted the unifying power of sports.
“We also celebrated Black History Month with a collection of books that shone a light on key figures and stories from black history, giving students the opportunity to reflect on important cultural issues.
“The day was further supported by visits from South Yorkshire Police, Barnsley City of Sanctuary, and ELSH, who all contributed to the message of inclusivity and community.
“The day was about more than just activities - it was a collective stand against racism, promoting equality and unity.”
