A RESTAURANT just off the M1 is hoping to help promote more environmentally-friendly travel as 12 new Tesla Superchargers have been installed on the premises.

The Old Post Office near Woolley Grange has spent years working with the manufacturer to get the new charging stations installed, which allow high-speed charging for all electric vehicles, not only Teslas.

Tesla approached owners with the proposal originally, and they are hoping the station will become a pit stop for those travelling along the motorway, as they follow ongoing trends to promote EV usage with 100 charging bays installed across the borough in May this year and more set to come.

Owner, Damien Bates, told the Chronicle: “It’s been about a two-year long process to get it together.

“But it’s good we’ve been able to host them - Tesla’s one of the biggest companies in the world so it helps raise the profile of us and the area.

“It’s a way for us to keep up with the way the world’s going.”
