Conor Hourihane says Barnsley’s players were ‘out on their feet’ after Saturday’s loss but has asked them for a ‘five-game reset’ to end a tough season on a high.
The Reds were beaten 6-2 at League One leaders Birmingham, having played with ten men since the third minute, in their third game of the week after losing at home to Exeter having drawn at Wigan.
They are 12th and winless in their last seven games.
Interim boss Hourihane told the Chronicle: “I have asked them for a five-game reset.
“They were out on their feet after three games in a week.
“We all need to reset now from next Saturday to the end of the season and to finish on a positive.
“We want a good week in training then hopefully get a little bit more luck in the next games which hasn’t gone for us.”
Barnsley host sixth-placed Bolton on Saturday before going to another promotion hopeful Leyton Orient on Good Friday.
They then host Peterborough on Easter Monday and Shrewsbury - who could be relegated by then - in their last home game on April 26.
The season ends with a trip to Reading on May 3.
