A YOUNG Barnsley DJ who’s already securing gigs in Ibiza and Tenerife dreams of following his ambitions to professional music production.
Harry Bonell, 13, from Higham, goes by the stage name Harry Tempo and he’s causing quite the stir on the scene.
The Darton High School pupil has amassed thousands of followers on Instagram and just last weekend was called to Sheffield United’s home ground, Bramall Lane, to perform a DJ set during the women’s match against Portsmouth.
While Harry has always had a passion for music, it was only during lockdown with a cheap set of decks and plenty of time on his hands that he decided to try out being a DJ himself.
His mum, Helen, told the Chronicle: “He’s now actually producing his own music, he’s put quite a lot of his own tracks up on Apple Music.
“Obviously his dream is to become a professional DJ - due to his age though it limits what he can get at the minute.
“So what he’s trying to do is just keep going, keep performing and building more contacts.”
Alongside his regular gigs in Sheffield, Harry has been performing at the Salt House in town centre, travelled abroad to perform in Tenerife and will soon achieve his dreams of performing in Ibiza, when he jets off to the holiday hotspot later in the year.
Now he has been put forward for a Young Champions award, to celebrate not only all that he’s already achieved, but the many things expected to come in future.
“He’s doing really well - he’s got quite a lot going off,” Helen added.
“We’re very, very proud of him.”
