A YOUNG music artist from Wombwell is hoping to take the world by storm after releasing his first EP.
Romeo Wharton, 14, goes by the stage name RØMEØH - and he released his first EP titled Ease last week.
The teenager, who attends Netherwood Academy, started playing the ukulele when he was just six years old - and after graduating from that class at the Yorkshire Academy of Music he began to play the guitar.
He wrote Ease when he was just 13 in the last summer holidays in the recording studio in his bedroom - and his mum Kimberley says it’s surreal that it’s now available worldwide.
She told the Chronicle: “He started to play the ukulele when he was about six and it’s just spiralled from there.
“My parents invested in all the equipment and now he’s got a recording studio in his bedroom.
“He wrote Ease during the six-week holidays and he used all sorts for that.”
Growing up, Kimberley used to play her son Michael Jackson - but she says he’s more of an indie rock artist now.
“There was one Michael Jackson song that used to calm him down when he was younger,” she added.
“But his music is more indie rock.
“It’s more like Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
“He’s really hungry - he wants to take the music scene by storm.”
Romeo’s first single can be found on all streaming platforms.
