A YEAR-long creative arts project at the Civic has concluded with young playwrights getting the opportunity to present their work on stage.

Last Saturday the youngsters who took part in the ‘Life in a Northern Town’ project finally got to see the culmination of their work, as they presented their productions to an audience.

The project itself saw a group of 14 to 19 year olds take part in a series of creative writing workshops where they were taught by industry professionals.

Participant Evie Kilner said: “These creative writing workshops have helped me with lots of things, mainly confidence building because before I joined these groups, I was scared to even just talk in front of people.

“Now, it doesn’t bother me anywhere near as much, and I have the confidence to share my work.”
