TRIBUTES have been paid to a Penistone woman who was influential in setting up youth centres across the area.
Mary Bramall, 90, died in Riverside Care Home in Monk Bretton on Monday, February 24.
She had lived in the care home for the last four years but had lived in Penistone all her life.
In the early 1970s through to the late 1980s Mary was a well-known youth leader and was instrumental in setting up and running youth centres in Penistone, Thurgoland, Wortley and Tankersley.
She also continued to support and encourage children while working as a local education welfare worker.
Mary was also a member of Silkstone Golf Club for almost half a century, during which she was the ladies captain in 1989.
Mary leaves her two sons, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
