A COUNCILLOR will be unable to vote in next week’s budget meeting due to being in arrears with their council tax.
It is a strict condition that members taking part in the annual budget meeting must be up to date with their own payments.
But the Chronicle can reveal that one local councillor - who has not been named - will be unable to vote on Thursday because they are in arrears.
Other councillors will vote on the budget, which includes a 4.9 per cent increase in council tax - just shy of the five per cent cap that local authorities are permitted to raise it by without holding a referendum.
A spokesperson for the council said: “One councillor will not be able to vote on financial matters relating to council tax at the budget council meeting.”
