BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis stopped off at an award-winning Shafton chippy to congratulate its staff.
Two Gates Fisheries was recognised as one of the top 50 fish and chip shops in country by Fry Magazine and also reached the top three in the sustainability category of the National Federation of Fish Friers Awards.
Owner Craig Butcher served Dan some cod and chips, but their menu also includes haddock, plaice and the woof fish.
Dan said: “I highly recommend Two Gates Fisheries - and not only because they let me have a go at frying the fish myself.
“The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious.
“Fish and chips is one of my favourite meals and the cod I ate at Two Gates Fisheries was the best I’ve ever eaten.
“Craig and his team have clearly worked hard to be praised so highly by Fry Magazine and the National Federation of Fish Friers, and I’m pleased that they have received the recognition they deserve.”
