OLIVER Rowland saved his best performance of the Formula E season until the final weekend.
The Penistone man, who turned 29 last week, qualified in pole position for the first of two races in Seoul, South Korea.
He eventually finished second in the race – his best result of the season by far.
Rowland retired early from the second race after contact with another car but the 21 points collected lifted him up to 14th with 32 from 16 races this season.
Rowland said: “It was great to get my first pole position on Saturday and translate that into the team’s first podium of the season.
“It was a shame to end the second race early after receiving contact, but we can still look at the positives. I look forward to contributing going forward.”
Rowland has been racing this season for Indian team Mahindra after leaving Nissan e.dams.
Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli tweeted: “A podium finish. Well done. What a jubilant way to mark 75 years of Independence of India. Mega job chaps.”
Rowland this season has travelled to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Rome, Monaco, Berlin, Jakarta, Marrakesh, New York City and London.
The 2023 season is due to start in Mexico City on January 14.
