COUNCIL highways bosses have vowed to seek a resolution after a Worsbrough Dale street was left in a ‘state’ following the completion of a housing development.
Grove Street has fallen under the spotlight after Coun Jake Lodge, who represents the Worsbrough ward, called for an inquiry into ‘unfulfilled planning obligations’ which required the private developer to make improvements to the highway and footpaths.
He told the Chronicle: “It’s been left in a state and it’s not fair on residents as they’d been promised a raft of improvement works upon the development’s completion.
“Instead of things getting better, it’s actually worse than before.”
Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, confirmed the council is keeping tabs on the situation.
“The highways team, with support from legal services, are currently in contact with the company and their litigation team to call the bond in to finish the works in default.
“At the moment, we don’t have a date for the completion of the work.
“Our last contact was on September 20, requesting an update.”
