A round-up of Barnsley FC related stories coming out of the weekend.

REDS STAY 11TH AHEAD OF IMPORTANT WEEK

Barnsley remained 11th in League One after a couple of games were played over the international weekend.

Either Peterborough or Rotherham could have overtaken the Reds with a win but drew 3-3.

Darrell Clarke’s side have 15 points from ten games, with 15 goals scored and 15 conceded.

They have not won in their last four in all competitions, with the head coach criticising recent performances.

They are currently midway through an 11-day break from action since an EFL Trophy loss at Huddersfield Town, following a league defeat to the same opponents three days earlier.

Barnsley return to action on Saturday at Blackpool – now managed by veteran boss Steve Bruce. The Seasiders, who have won their last five games against the Reds, are one place above them on goal difference.

Barnsley then host Charlton Athletic on Tuesday of next week – looking to continue their five-game unbeaten streak at home but record a second league win at Oakwell since February.

They then visit Shrewsbury Town on October 26, who won 5-3 at fellow bottom four side Crawley on Saturday.

It is a crucial week for the Reds who will look to find some better form after a poor run.

YOGANATHAN NETS TWICE FOR WALES U19S AGAINST ITALY

BARNSLEY youngster Vimal Yoganathan scored his first international goals for Wales under 19s this week.

They played two friendlies in Italy, drawing 3-3 then winning 4-3 – with Yoganathan netting in both.

He opened the scoring in the first game, with a fine finish from the edge of the box, then made it 3-3 in the second before his side scored a winner.

The 18-year-old now returns to Barnsley, for whom he has played nine cup games and made one league appearance off the bench.

Fabio Jalo came off the bench for half an hour for Portugal under 20s in a 2-1 win in Turkey.

They are due to play again at home to Italy on Monday evening.

Josiah Dyer came off the bench twice for Montserrat in two games against Bonaire in the CONCACAF Nations League this week.

They played home and away, with two away 1-0 wins.

Mylan Benjamin and Trent Carter-Rogers, who were both released by Barnsley this year, played for Montserrat.

WOMEN PULL OUT OF FA CUP

Barnsley FC women ‘forfeited’ their game at Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup.

The Reds posted on social media that the game was off ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’ while Huddersfield said Barnsley had pulled out and apologised to fans.

It has been recorded on the FA website as a ‘home walkover.’

The Reds are now due to host Chorley from 2pm on Sunday in the National League North – hoping to build on their first league win of the season against Stockport last week.

LOANEE SHEPHERD OFF WITH INJURY

BARNSLEY loanee Jack Shepherd came off injured in Bradford City’s 2-0 win at Tranmere Rovers in League Two.

It was reported afterwards that Shepherd had a dead leg.

He has started the Bantams’ last seven games – after being on the bench for the rest of the season – in which time they have lost just one and won three.

Jackson Smith played in a 2-1 win for Grimsby Town at Salford City in League Two.

Andy Dallas came off the Barrow bench in their 1-0 home loss to Morecambe. The striker hit the post, having scored his first league goal for the club last week.

UNDER 18S DRAW AT WIGAN

Barnsley under 18s drew 1-1 at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Malachi Mbogba opened the scoring.

They are now due to host Peterborough on Saturday from midday.

Barnsley under 21s are due to play at Burnley on Tuesday evening.
