BUNTING is needed to brighten up a part of the Trans Pennine Trail that provides access to the Tour de France route passing through the borough in July.
Project managers at the Trans Pennine Trail office based in Barnsley, and the Barnsley Council's public rights of way team, are inviting groups and individuals to make bunting to decorate the trail.
Senior rights of way officer Sarah Ford said: "You could use new fabrics or recycle old clothes, make one pennant or dozens, use the Tour de France jersey colours or any colour combination – the options are limitless."
Coun Roy Miller said the aim is to brighten up the trail and make it a 'fantastic celebratory backdrop' for the iconic race as it flashes through Barnsley on Sunday, July 6 between 3pm and 4.30pm, before heading into Sheffield for the finish.
