MEMBERS of the coaching and backroom staff at Barnsley FC have been running five kilometres each day in October to raise money for a worthy cause.

Prostate United is a fundraising mission to help fund lifesaving research for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

It is a disease which kills one man every 45 minutes.

Head coach Darrell Clarke has taken part in the fundraising mission alongside coaches Jon Stead and Conor Hourihane - as well as other members of the backroom staff.

He said: “It’s been a tremendous effort to get out there everyday.

“We wanted to make sure we did our bit to try and raise as much funds as we possibly can.

“It’s such a worthy cause.

“We’ve certainly had a good laugh.”

Asked who the fastest runner has been, Clarke added: “Conor Hourihane is up there and even Riddy (Chris Ridyard, first team operation lead).

“There’s nothing on him to be honest with you but he’s close to running under 20 minutes.

“Me being the oldest I’m at the back making sure everything’s all right.”
