A LOVE letter to Barnsley was premiered at the Parkway Cinema on Monday.

Sam Batley has created the film, The Town I Love So Well, in a bid to put the town and its people in the spotlight.

The documentary makes up part of Sam’s wider project, ‘A Barnsley Story’, which was commissioned and funded by Storying Barnsley, the council’s Cultural Development Fund programme to encourage and celebrate the creativity in the town.

More than 400 people attended the premiere on Monday.

A council spokesperson said: “We commissioned the film as part of our Storying Barnsley programme to celebrate and encourage creativity across our communities.

“You can now see a collection of the fantastic work created by our artists and communities at Barnsley Civic, the Glass Works and Library @ the Lightbox.

“Storying Barnsley is our three-year Cultural Development Fund programme to support our creative community and inspire people with unique cultural experiences.

“It was funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England.”
