A TEENAGE motorsport champion has been burning rubber across Britain.
Darton Academy pupil Jonathan Moore, 15, is already comfortable receiving awards, earning nine podium positions out of ten race weekends last year.
Now he hopes to push himself further as he has been selected to join a prestigious national programme.
Mum, Cheryl Goulding, told the Chronicle: “Everything with Jonathan is moving forward amazingly positively for 2024.
“Most notably he’s been selected by Motorsport UK for their ‘Futures’ scheme.
“This program selects the most promising young racing drivers between the ages of 15 to 24 within the UK in order to develop and progress them into international and elite motorsports.
“To be accepted for futures whilst still racing as a junior is completely unheard of the minimum age for selection is 15 and to be selected so young is frankly unbelievable.”
Despite this unique achievement, Jonathan is not slowing down as he prepares for the upcoming Junior Saloon Car Championship season.
He is currently revising for GCSEs alongside his motorsport work, and finding a way to balance school work and practice.
These amazing achievements have earned him a nomination as Young Sportsperson for this year’s Young Champion awards.
“It’s amazing, we’re over the moon,” Cheryl said of the nomination.
“It’s not something we were expecting.
“We’re so proud of him, he works so hard.”
