A BARNSLEY College apprentice has been awarded for her high achievements.
Jamie-Leigh Mitchell, 25, of Barnsbridge Grove, Measbrough Dike, took home the Barnsley Apprentice of the Year Award at the North Midlands and South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards in Sheffield.
Jamie-Leigh, a teaching assistant at Greenacre School, received the award for her work helping pupils with special educational needs and helping them to overcome barriers which they may face.
She has been so successful that she has been offered a full time job at the school when she has completed her apprenticeship.
Jamie-Leigh said: “It doesn’t seem real that I could have won an award on such a large scale. All the great things that have been celebrated about me have come from the apprenticeship and, most importantly, Greenacre School.
“I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone, it is a fantastic opportunity to push yourself into the industry you want to be in whilst creating contacts and further opportunities for yourself along the way.”
