THE owner of a French bulldog who fell into Worsbrough Reservoir earlier this month and has not been found since says the family have been left ‘heartbroken’ - and she admits she’ll forever be indebted to the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to find him.
Ria Garner, 43, of Kendray, was walking ten-month-old Otis around the reservoir on January 6 when he fell into the water.
She says she jumped into the water to grab him - but he’s not been found since.
She admits that it’s left her family, including partner Chris Guest, heartbroken.
“It was the weekend when it snowed,” she said.
“I jumped in to try and grab him straight away but I couldn’t find him.
“I was heartbroken and we’re devastated.
“We’ve searched and searched but we’ve not had any luck.”
Ria says three volunteer groups - Beneath the Surface, K9-SAR and HART-SAR - have worked tirelessly to try and find him, and she can’t thank them enough.
Plastic mesh has now been placed on the bridge where Otis fell to ensure the safety of other dogs.
“Erica Hart from HART-SAR came on scene the day after to try and locate Otis with her drone, which was unsuccessful,” she said.
“Then volunteers from Beneath the Surface along with two ladies from K9-SAR came to search on the 10th, 11th and 12th.
“At this time Otis has still not been located.
“However the dedication to finding my dog is above and beyond anything I’d ever expect.
“I feel forever indebted to these volunteer groups.”
