Irish winger Keith Treacy has left Barnsley FC by mutual consent after a disappointing six months at Oakwell.
The 26-year-old was billed as a star signing when he joined the Reds on a two-year deal in the summer after helping Burnley to the Premier League last season. But he struggled with fitness and form.
The former Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday man made 16 appearances for the Reds, with his only goal being a consolation strike in the 2-1 loss at Chesterfield in November.
Treacy never completed 90 minutes for Barnsley and the last of his eight starts was in October. He had not played in more than a month since a substitute appearance in the FA Cup game against Chester at Oakwell.
