THERE were club records and age group prizes for Barnsley club runners at races across the UK and abroad this week.
Penistone Footpath Runner Dawn Broom won the women’s over60 category at the Yeovilton 5k in Somerset.
Dawn is one of the top runners in the age group in the country as demonstrated by her time of 21-19.
Her husband John also took part, finishing in 21-22.
Penistone’s Oliver Pike, who is completing 15 challenges to raise money for Breast Cancer Now after his wife Lynsey Milligan underwent 15 days of radiotherapy for breast cancer, finished the Newport Marathon in 3-17-54.
Will Hoyland’s time was 3-04-37.
Barnsley AC’s Gail Colville was back running for her Spanish Running Club Los Bandidos in the first race of the Circuito de Carreras Populates Diputacíon de Almeria at Enix.
At 723m above sea level, the 8k race had plenty of hills to negotiate before the descent back to the finish.
Gail finished as second woman overall in a time of 35-25.
Barnsley AC’s Keith Littlewood returned to Chesterfield’s Queens Park for the No Walk in the Park 5k. His time was 18-49 and he finished as second over55 man.
Sowerby Bridge Snails held their annual Flat Caps 10k race around the Calderdale countryside on Sunday and Barnsley Harrier Nigel Bradbury made the journey to take part. He finished 176th in 81-49.
Harrier John Moss lined up for yet another marathon, this time taking on the Charm Bracelet.
Starting in Redcar and heading south following the King Charles III England Coast Path, the race takes participants through coastal villages, on the sand, and high up on the cliffs then down to Whitby.
John finished 168th in 7-42-34.
