ALMOST £2,000 worth of damage has been caused by vandals who cut through memorial trees in Elsecar recently.
Hoyland Milton’s Couns Mick Stowe, Robin Franklin and Tim Shepherd were made aware of the vandalism which took place at Elsecar Park earlier this week.
They are now encouraging anyone who has any information in regards to the incident to contact them or the police.
Coun Stowe said: “The vandalism was pre-planned because a saw was used to cut into the trees from both sides without felling them but ensuring it would kill them.
“The villain miscalculated with one severing it completely.
“An officer reported to Robin Franklin, Tim Shepherd and myself that the cost of replacement is estimated at approximately £1,800 and is funding we could have spent elsewhere.
“Our thoughts are with the families of the loved ones and if anyone has any information regarding the criminal act please contact one or all of the Hoyland Milton Labour councillors.”
