DODWORTH Miners rugby league club won their first game of the season 22-8 at home to Seacroft Sharks.
Dodworth had been promoted to Division Two of the Yorkshire League after winning last season’s play-offs.
They took the lead through an Alex Seale try but found themselves behind at half-time.
The hosts scored 16 unanswered points in the second half with tries by Dom Mannion, Harry Harvey and Joe Ashworth as well as kicks by Joe Perry and Kez Hyde.
They are now due to visit Illingworth on Saturday.
Rycroft Hammers also started with a win.
They beat Guiseley Rangers 30-22 in Division Six.
Mark Senior fractured his ankle in a tackle which saw Guiseley reduced to 12 men.
Rycroft quickly moved into an 18-0 lead with a brace from Jayden Walker and a try Jordan Grayston who also converted all three.
Guiseley replied but captain Tommy Trueman made it 24-6.
Rycroft had two players sinbinned and saw their lead cut but Luke Womack’s try made the points safe.
Rycroft are now due to visit Sheffield Hawks on Saturday.
