The funeral of a Barnsley soldier killed in Afghanistan will take place next week.
Private Matthew Adam Thornton, 28, was killed on November 9 by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in the Babaji region of Helmand. He was a territorial with the 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment.
His body was returned on November 17 and his funeral is on Tuesday at 11am at All Saints Church in Darton.
Station Road/Church Street, will be closed from Sackup Lane to Barnsley Road, between 10.30am and 11.15am, and the Barnsley Road/Huddersfield Road junction, will be closed from 10.45am to 11.05am.
Diversions will be in place. Council spokesman Bob Williams said: "The council apologises for these closures and any inconvenience caused. Where possible drivers are asked to avoid the area and, in the circumstances, their patience and understanding would be very much appreciated."
Bin collections on Bridge Street/Station Road/Church Street have been rescheduled. They will be collected at 6.15am on Tuesday instead of later.
Residents should ensure their bins are put out on Monday night and are asked to put them away before 10am.
