A DARFIELD property which went up in flames this morning was found to house a cannabis farm back in November.
Five fire engines and one turntable ladder tackled a blaze at a property on Morrison Road this morning (Wednesday).
Back in November, police found a cannabis grow containing approximately 30 plants and subsequently arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of production of cannabis, but he has since been released with no further action taken.
It was the same property that firefighters tackled this morning.
A police spokesperson said: “At 5.19am today (Wednesday February 19) we were called to reports of a fire at a property on Morrison Road, in Darfield.
“We responded alongside crews from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, who extinguished the fire.
“Nobody was injured during the incident.
“At 11.20pm on November 28, we responded to reports of a burglary at a property on Morrison Road, in Darfield, Barnsley.
“Officers responded and found evidence consistent with a break-in.
Inside the property a cannabis grow was discovered, containing approximately 30 plants.
“A 36-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis, but he has since been released with no further action taken.”
