STAFF at a local care provider volunteered their own time over Christmas to travel across the borough and spread some festive joy.
The team at Oaks Business Park-based Sure Healthcare went the extra mile to support their 25 service users, donating money to buy each a present they could open on Christmas Day.
However, they chose not to simply send these through the post, and instead dressed up as Santa and his elves, travelling to homes in Thurnscoe all the way to South Hiendley to personally hand people their gifts.
Louise Cook, who oversees the care team, told the Chronicle: “It was fun - really lovely.
“We had an early start, leaving at 6am to get around everybody - the staff are amazing and donated all their own time.
“The idea was that they could open them with the rest of their presents on Christmas morning, but 90 per cent wanted to opened them there and then because they were so excited.
“The families got involved as well and were really happy.
“There were a few tears - one lady was crying her eyes out because she thought she’d be on her own at Christmas.”
