BARNSLEY will welcome Luca Connell, Adam Phillips and Marc Roberts back for their trip to Rotherham on Saturday and possibly Max Watters on Tuesday at Northampton.

Connell was injured for Saturday’s loss to Huddersfield while fellow midfielder Phillips’ partner was due to give birth that weekend and defender Roberts serving the final game of a suspension.

Head coach Darrell Clarke said: “It’s much-needed. They are three key players in the group. It’s good to have all three back.

“They are three top players when they are at the top of their game. We need them on top of their game.

“All three know the club well and when things aren’t going well we need to call on their experience to reach the levels hopefully they can reach.”

Striker Watters has been out for almost a month with an ankle problem.

Clarke said: “Max is in light training and, if all goes well, he should be involved in Tuesday’s game.”

Fabio Jalo, also a striker, is out until the end of March while fellow academy product Josiah Dyer made his league debut on Saturday for a few minutes.

Clarke said: “Josiah is a bit raw.

“He’s not quite ready. He came on but it was needs must because we didn’t have any forward players.”
