PENISTONE and Stocksbridge MP Marie Tidball has been elected as the chair of a Parliamentary group on autism.
Ms Tidball, who was recently elected as a Labour MP in the area, said it was an ‘honour’ to be elected as chair.
All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPG) are coalitions of MPs across parties who join together to campaign on certain issues.
Ms Tidball said: “The goal of the APPG on autism is to work together to look at ways to raise awareness of autism and improve public services for autistic people.
“As someone who has worked with autistic people and worked on autism law and policy throughout my professional life, I look forward to working with colleagues across both Houses of Parliament, autistic people and other organisations, to find ways to improve awareness and public services for autistic people across the country.”
