DESPITE being dogged by complications over the last year one rising teen motorsport champion continues to persist - and will soon be one of the youngest drivers to race on Porsche’s tracks.

Jonathan Moore has been making a name for himself in the motorsport world over the last few years, finding himself on the podium at junior saloon championships and earning a place at one of the country’s most well-renowned sport universities, Loughborough, where he is studying the Motorsport UK Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE).

Yet the 16-year-old’s ambitions have stalled slightly over the past year, as officials ruled one of his previous wins at Brands Hatch as a loss due to an error and one of his fastest laps at a recent race was also disqualified due to regulations.

In the end, due to these various issues, Jonathan ended up losing the Junior Saloon Club Championship by just one point.

His mother, Cheryl Goulding, told the Chronicle: “It’s extremely frustrating and more so since Jonathan had both the fastest and third fastest laps of the race so if they had been treated the same, in whatever scenario, he would have won.

“I’ll be honest, it’s been a year on the back foot for Jonathan, even in qualifying that weekend at Brands Hatch everything was stacked against him but he still came through.

“I’m so so proud of him and his overall resilience and determination - he has excelled himself both as a driver and as a very well loved and well respected member of the paddock even though this year’s result hasn’t gone his way.

“He always remains humble, very kind and has never spoken out of turn in any way throughout the months of judicial hearings and uncertainty.”

In the next year, despite still being young enough to compete in the junior championships, he will be moving up to the seniors as he takes a seat in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB.

“Testing has been going very well for him and we are all looking forward to what should be a great year,” Cheryl added.

“Jonathan’s first outing will be at Donington Park on March 25 for the official Porsche media day where his car and sponsors will be unveiled - this is very exciting as Jonathan has an amazing sponsor for 2025.

“He is doing well at college and continues to work very hard.”
