CHILDREN from the award-winning LimbBo Foundation attended a recent Barnsley FC match at Oakwell.

Over 40 children from the Barnsley charity for limb-different children served as flag bearers and welcomed the team onto the pitch before the Reds’ 4-3 win over Lincoln on March 1.

Two of the children were also able to be mascots with the team while MP Marie Tidball, an ambassador for the charity, met with the children before they went onto the pitch.

During the match, the LimbBo Foundation ran a bucket collection around the grounds, with the proceeds going towards furthering their work and helping more families to access the resources and support they need.

Marie said: “It was a privilege to go down to Barnsley Football Club to see children from the LimbBo Foundation get to be flag bearers for the match.

“I was brimming with pride to see the children.

“I’m hoping to welcome some of the older children down to Parliament soon.”

The LimbBo Foundation was founded in 2018, following with birth of Tommy in 2014, by his parents Adam and Katie Dengel, grandmother Jane Hewitt and family friend Paul Woodcock.

Tommy was born missing his right hand and part of his right forearm, and his family wanted to ensure other similar children and families did not feel isolated.

Marie added: “We are so lucky to have such a wonderful charity on our doorstep based in Barnsley, who provide such wonderful support to children and their families.

“I want limb-different children to grow up knowing they can fulfil their ambitions and potential, and it is always a joy to chat to the lovely children at LimbBo.”
