Two goals in five first half minutes gave Dearne and District a 2-0 win over Athersley Rec.
Dearne's pressure paid off in the 27th minute when Justin Circuit raced onto a bouncing ball and headed beyond Levi Owen.
The second came just five minutes later when Jamie Austin curled in a free-kick from the edge of the box.
Rec came back into the game in the second half but could not a crucial goal to spark a comeback.
Three points would have been welcome for either side with Dearne battling to regain their play-off berth and Rec still not clear of the relegation zone.
Wombwell Town were also in midweek action and they strengthened their spot in the play-off positions with a 1-0 win at Club Thorne Colliery.
The only goal came five minutes before the break thanks to Oliver Fearon.
