Barnsley defender Kacper Lopata has been sent out on loan to Ross County for the season.

The Polish defender, who signed at the start of last season, has made 17 appearances for the Reds, including two in cups this season in which he captained them in the EFL Trophy last week.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to Port Vale last season, playing six times in an injury-plagued spell.

He is contracted until 2027.

Sporting Director Mladen Sormaz told the club website: “We have high hopes for Kacper and this move gives him a chance to go and develop his game in the Scottish Premiership. We look forward to welcoming him back next season and we wish him well for the season ahead.”
