This time of year always evokes feelings of reflection and, as we look back, a particular highlight for us is the recent release of the EFL’s report, which showed that Barnsley FC’s Community Trust delivered a staggering £16 million worth of social impact during the 2023/24 season.
This is an achievement we’re incredibly proud of, as it underlines our commitment to making a real difference in our community.
Whether it’s through health programmes, education initiatives, or supporting those most in need, our trust is at the heart of everything we do. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the trust for their tireless efforts and to all of you who support their initiatives throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Barnsley FC will continue playing home matches at Oakwell after agreeing a 30-year lease with the town’s council following our announcement at the start of the year. This agreement, made possible through Barnsley Council’s full ownership of the stadium, paves the way for much-needed investment into Oakwell. Council leader Sir Steve Houghton described this as ‘an opportunity for transformation’, and I wholeheartedly agree.
The lease sets the stage for us to evolve Oakwell and create a venue that serves as a true sporting centre and cultural hub for the borough.
Fans can look forward to more than just matchdays. This partnership will enable us to host unique fan experiences and events, a potential for concerts, corporate conferences, and community activities on a more regular basis.
It also ensures a bright future for Barnsley FC Women, who achieved promotion back in the summer.
That is further evidence of strengthening our commitment to inclusivity and growth in football.

Home and away from home, to supporting our academy and women’s team, your unwavering commitment has been nothing short of inspiring.
