Kyran Lofthouse has been loaned out to Barnsley's fellow League One club Burton Albion for the rest of the season.
The 24-year-old wing-back has played 25 times for the Reds this season, including against Burton on Saturday.
Sporting director Mladen Sormaz said: “We are happy with Kyran’s performances this season, but we also feel that it’s important that he continues to get regular minutes to ensure he progresses in the way we know he can. We look forward to welcoming Kyran back to Oakwell in the summer.”
