A TOWN centre supermarket’s petrol station is set to undergo a major improvement after plans were approved by Barnsley Council’s planning board.
An application for work to take place at the Morrisons petrol station, on Lower Thomas Street, were originally submitted in July.
The plans included a new kiosk nit, additional electric vehicle charging points and four new jet wash structures.
A report states: “The application seeks full planning permission for the erection of an addition kiosk unit as well as alterations to the existing petrol station arrangement to facilitate new EV charging spaces, new jet washes and associated electrical equipment.
“Alterations to the existing parking spaces to the west of the petrol station are also proposed.
“This includes creating eight new EV charging bays on the most western section of the Morrison’s car park.
“A small number of existing spaces will be lost due to the erection of the associated plant/electrical cabinets adjacent to the EV bays.”
Despite the application undergoing a host of public consultation exercises, bosses behind the plans received no responses from local residents.
The plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board earlier this week.
