Barnsley have loaned in French striker Clement Rodrigues and sent Sam Cosgrove out on loan to League One rivals Stockport County.

Rodrigues, 24, joins on loan from French second division club Bastia with a view to a permanent deal.

He scored three goals in 17 league games this season.

Cosgrove has moved to Stockport but won’t play in the game against Barnsley on Saturday.

The striker - who joined from Birmingham in 2023 - netted three goals in last season’s play-offs but four in 58 league games and none in the last 19.

Sporting director Mladen Sormaz said: “Sam’s contract expires in the summer and so this loan move may well signal the end of his time at Barnsley and on behalf of everyone at the Club I’d like to thank him for his professionalism and positive attitude during his time here.”

On Rodrigues, Sormaz said: "We are really pleased to see Clément arrive at the club to bolster our attacking options. He is a player who possesses good athletic traits, including speed, pressing and movement in the box which we hope will bring another dimension to our forward line."
