THE TWO women’s teams named Barnsley are due to face each other after all in the coming season after being drawn together in the League Cup later this month.
Barnsley FC Women – who are not affiliated to Barnsley FC’s men’s team and play in Sheffield – have moved divisions to the National League Division One Midlands for this season.
That means they will not be in the same league as Barnsley FC women, based at Oakwell, who have been promoted into the Division One North.
But the two clubs, who will both compete in the fourth tier in England, have been drawn against each other in the cup at Oakwell on Tuesday, August 28.
It will be the first ever meeting of the sides.
Both are due to start their league seasons on August 18.
