A NEW stone marking the highest point on the Trans Pennine Trail has officially been unveiled.
The marker, located above Woodhead Tunnel on Windle Edge in Barnsley, is the latest addition to the trail to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
It is 433 metres - or 1,420 feet - above sea level.
A spokesperson for the Trans Pennine Trail said: “Make sure to look out for the marker when you’re next on the Dunford Bridge to Woodhead section of the trail, take a moment to admire the view, and don’t forget to send us your highest-point selfies.”
