WORK has officially started on a new care home on the outskirts of Barnsley town centre.
Exemplar Health Care will run the 33-bed care home which will be based on Perseverance Street.
Due for completion by December 2025, the new home will be named Springfield Vale, and will provide comprehensive support to adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.
Bosses behind the scheme say a completion date has been set for December 2025 and the development will generate around 100 new healthcare jobs in the town.
Helen Lawson, commissioning manager at Exemplar Health Care, said: “Our aim is to make every day better for our residents by providing person-centred care that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
“Once complete, the home will create a significant number of local healthcare employment opportunities, whilst also making sure the local community has access to a much-needed complex needs care service.
“It’s our ambition for the home to be a place where our residents can be part of the community, whether through work placements, local events or volunteering.”
