THIS weekend the Underneath the Stars festival will be returning to Barnsley for one final time.
The festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, having entertained countless over the past decade with acts like The Proclaimers and Scouting for Girls.
However, this weekend’s event will also mark the end of Barnsley’s premier music festival, as it was announced in June that the annual event will be coming to an end.
Organisers are hoping to go out on a high, with the three-day festival at Cinderhill Farm in Cawthorne offering a series of world-class entertainment.
Today, folk singer-songwriter Kate Rusby will take to the stage, alongside Scottish the Blazin’ Fiddles, the divinely inspired Oh My God! It’s the Church, and plenty more.
Tomorrow rock band The Feeling will be joined by world-famous Barnsley Youth Choir and traditional Irish folk group Dervish.
Then on Sunday, before the stage is taken down for the last time, it will feature X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan, multi-instrumentalist King Zepha and panel show favourite musical comedian Bill Bailey.
