BARNSLEY RUFC’S season ended with defeat in all 22 games.
The Shaw Laners pulled out of their final game at second-bottom Northallerton in Yorkshire Division Two.
They pulled out of ten games, including the last three, due to a lack of players – earning them five-point deductions each time.
They lost all 12 completed matches, collecting one bonus point for losing by less than seven points.
That left them on minus 49 points, 81 adrift at the bottom.
Wath won 29-12 at home to Bramley Phoenix.
They are fourth, eight points off the second promotion place with a game in hand.
Wath now host champions Wensleydale tomorrow before visiting Leeds Corinthians on April 8 when second-placed Harrogate Pythons host Wensleydale and third-placed Baildon host mid-table Yarnbury.
Victories in both games, plus dropped points for Harrogate and Baildon, could see Wath finish second.
Anthony Kenney, Sean Hopper, Joe Earp and Alex Roebuck scored tries with Jack Whitlam adding three conversions and a penalty.
They went 29-0 up after 45 minutes then conceded 12 points.
Barnsley Ladies lost 44-21 at West Park Leeds. The Shaw Laners are seventh in Championship North, the second tier of English women’s rugby, with 32 points from 14 games.
They have three matches left, starting against Leicester Tigers tomorrow.
