TWO murals have appeared on the side of a building in Locke Park by an artist known as Andy B.
The paintings were commissioned by Mike and Sam Harris, who live at the entrance of the park, who wanted to create something eye-catching as people enter the park.
Mike said: “We have had two murals that have been painted by Andy. One of them is of a tower with a forest landscape behind it and the other is of an enchanted forest.
“The murals are great for our four kids who really enjoy the enchanted forest. It is also great for anyone walking past to look at as it shows off some fantastic local art in a great park.”
Local artist Andrew Barton, who last year placed various painted rocks around Barnsley, is the man responsible for painting the murals.
“I saw the advert from Mike asking if anyone could paint his wall, which is situated right in Locke Park. I really wanted the job as Locke Park has been my home base for little art projects for the last two years,” he said.
“Earlier this year we did a project in Locke Park where we created fairy doors and hotels, which everyone enjoyed. So when the opportunity to paint a mural came up, I couldn’t resist. It’s my favourite place in Barnsley and I’m pretty sure more art projects will be coming in the future.”
