A BARNSLEY accountancy consultancy has been named the first of its kind in the region to be recognised for its exceptional commitment to employee health and wellbeing.

GBAC Ltd, based in the town centre, employs 36 members of staff.

It received the Be Well@Work silver award recently for its work in supporting its employees.

The council say the company has excelled in various areas, including mental health support, consultation and communication, training and development, health campaigns, and stop smoking initiatives.

They also have a four-day working week in place, which has been working well for two years.

Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “It was a pleasure to visit GBAC Ltd to present the Be Well@Work silver award.

“The company’s commitment to employee wellbeing is evident and should be recognised.

“Prioritising health and wellbeing not only creates a positive work environment but also enhances overall performance.

“We congratulate them on this well-deserved award and look forward to their continued success.”

Office manager Charlotte Ward added: “We are thrilled to receive the Be Well@Work silver award.

“Our goal has always been to create a culture where our staff feel valued, happy, and heard.

“The various initiatives we’ve introduced, such as a wellbeing room, monthly wellbeing events, and the four-day workweek, have made a significant impact.

“This award motivates us to continue improving and striving for the gold award.

“We are committed to maintaining a workplace where our team can thrive.”
