BARNSLEY Council’s Central Family Hub nursery has been rated ‘outstanding’ following its latest Ofsted inspection.

The hub, based on Overdale Avenue in Worsbrough, was inspected by Ofsted in September - with the report released to the public earlier this week.

In their report, Ofsted inspectors praised staff for their highly effective support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as well as those who may need additional support.

The report stated: “Children make excellent progress from their individual starting points in development during their time at this inspiring nursery.

“They are very well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey, including preparing to start school.

“Staff set high expectations for all children in their care through a systematic and well-planned curriculum.

“They build strong bonds with children and their families by carrying out supportive home visits and carefully considered induction activities.

“This lays a secure foundation for children’s future learning.”

Coun Trevor Cave, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, added: “We are incredibly proud of our staff and the exceptional outcomes achieved for the children that attend our nursery.

“We want every child in Barnsley to have opportunities to learn, grow and be inspired as part of our Great Childhood Ambition, and this is a great example of how it’s never too early to start.

“This ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our entire team, they help make Barnsley a great place for children to grow and thrive.”
