ONE of Wombwell’s longest-running businesses has shut its garage doors for the final time.

Rimington Autos, based on Rimington Road and run by owner Colin Bell, has now shut up shop as Colin, 79, enters retirement.

Colin was born in Jardine Street and first went into business in Wombwell with his father Cyril, opening a motorbike shop on Park Street in 1960. He ran Rimington Autos for 30 years. Colin said the garage was awarded five stars by the Good Garage Scheme, and placed in the top 25 in the country.

Colin said: “I got to 79 at Christmas and decided it was time to call it a day. It has not been the easiest decision to retire. I would like to thank all the customers who have come in over the years.”
