THIS is the first look at Barnsley sculptor Graham Ibbeson’s memorial to former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes.

The maquette was unveiled in the White Bear in the town centre, and Graham has tried to capture the character of Hughes and his love for the town of Mexborough, where he spent his formative years.

It shows him walking through a part industrial and part rural landscape and featuring pit winding gear, chimneys and coal as well as the pike, fox, crow and female muse.
