Move over JK Rowling...pupils from a Barnsley primary school are just one step away from becoming published authors, but they need your votes.
Pupils at Wilthorpe Infant School have beat off stiff competition from others across the UK and Ireland to be shortlisted against 19 other finalists in the Story Buddies competition run by card company Hallmark.
Class teacher Kate Hanley said: “Our class really enjoyed writing our story together and we can’t believe we’ve been shortlisted – all the children are so excited. As well as the kids having their very own book published and sold at www.hallmark.co.uk, winning this competition would give us the chance to raise vital funds for our school, so we really hope lots of people vote for us and we win.”
The winning book will be published and sold by Hallmark as an addition to the newest member of the Story Buddy gang, 'The loveable Bigsby', with a donation of sales going directly to the school.
The public poll is open until October 29 and the shortlisted entry with the most votes will then be named the winner and announced mid-November with the book being published in time for Christmas.
