A BARUGH Green company has been recognised by the council for efforts to support the physical and mental health of its employees.

Hargreaves Industrial Services received the Bronze Award for Workplace Wellbeing by the council, as part of the Be Well @ Work programme.

The company has gone over and above the mandatory criteria in human resources, absence management, and health and safety, by focusing extensively on mental health, health campaigns, and healthy eating.

Initiatives that have been particularly popular with staff include the provision of free fruit and additional time during lunch breaks to encourage walking.

Coun Robin Franklin, cabinet spokesperson for regeneration and culture, said: “It was a pleasure to visit Hargreaves head office to present their Be Well @ Work bronze award.

“It is clearly a company that values and promotes the health of its employees.

“As part of the award, the company undertook a staff survey and focus groups.

“A key takeaway from these was how the staff support each other which helps to create a positive and friendly work environment.

“We congratulate them on achieving the award and wish them well in their pursuit of the silver award.”
